Claro Walnut, Wenge, Steel
Dr Krivchenia had just built a new”mountain contemporary” home in Edwards and was looking to furnish it with a dining table that would blend with this style and his existing antiques. His only requirement was that he wanted a beautiful piece of wood with natural edges to be the center piece of the dining area.
It is nearly impossible to find a wide piece of wood to fit the necessary dimensions (without spending an exorbitant amount of money), so we chose two book-matched slabs of Claro Walnut for the top. To make this contemporary element blend with his antiques, I designed a trestle table base, which is a very traditional construction method, but with modern materials like steel and wenge. The resulting table is a handsome piece that seats 8-10 people.
